Love Vs Arranged Marriage[ Some discrepancies and many similarities]

Love Vs Arranged Marriage

You might have come across many  8 Marks questions like compare this and that and differentiate between that and this while in School. Well, the below table is a very interesting differentiation table which compares two seemingly different aspects  and the happenings in India which are same same but different but the end result is always the same. .. An age old topic on which we can discuss till our last breath and may be write essays and essays. Tried to make it short and hope it makes sense to at least few. Read on and share your views too J

Note: Other than toondoo cartoons rest all images are googled. I DONT OWN them. Please click
on the image for a better view.

The below differences are listed out taking majority in to count. There might be other minor possibilities too
Love marriage
Arranged Marriage
Every thing seems simple here. Nothing seems like an issue initially except the girl and the boy falling for each other (Some times few beneficial reasons ,some times no specific reason). Some times they get married even before they realise that they are doing so and some times it takes ages to tie the knot and some times due to few obstacles and hastiness people jump in to conclusions and break up
Every thing seems complex here. Girl , Girl's parents , Boy , Boy's parents, Grandparents , Girl's aunt, boy's aunt and if possible including Ramu Kaaka every one should like each other . At times they realise they are two logger heads and cannot live together and break up. Sometimes if marriage doesn’t work parents keep on pressurising to make it work
Both girl and boy should persuade their parents and if needed raise voice against them
Both parents if they are not willing raise voice against their girl / boy even if they like each other . If the parents like the boy/girl its very likely that the boy/girl dont like each other. Parent kid likes vary many times and there is no strong reason to go against each one’s decision because its after allARRANGEDmarriage

It is decided in 6months or 1year to be precise after both like each other or some times even shorter duration of knowing each other over a chat or on facebook .If there are no caste / Money/ creed / breed / state/ age / region/ religion / boundaries there is a faster wedding . Unfortunately if such differences exist it may take a long time to persuade parents
It is decided after thorough research analysis and pros and cons of 2yrs min and 5yrs max after most of the qualities like financial soundness/ same caste / creed/ region etc are met and they feel they have known it all just going through FB or blogs :D
There are pre and post match fixing phases in an arranged marriage. Below shows one phase. In post Phase either of the parties expects the other to like any thing and every thing they post

There is no dowry thingy here unless until parents are  cribbing for it and most of the times wedding happens against parents will so there are very less chances that the question of dowry rises but some times financial aid given by parents is LOT MORE THAN DOWRY as Love birds hurried for marriage and have more MONEY issues than HONEY issues :P . If both parties are rich, its all about money and a happy wedding .Both sides give some thing away to flaunt the level of the riches!
There might be a dowry or might not be.Some times boys are big hearted and are strictly against dowry thing. Most of the times dowry is by default and even it is important part of the marriage deal. If the boys parents have 1 crore property they ask how much they can get directly proportional to that!! (for some one who is already having a pot belly gained on account of heaps of properties why should some one give more money? ?). If both  parties are rich its all about money and a happy wedding .Both sides give some thing away to flaunt the level of the riches!

Its an achievement to make parents agree for the wedding
It is THE Biggest achievement to get every ones consent for wedding. (It mostly doesnt happen)
There is no need to be in confusion as there is only one girl or boy whom you loved and you have no option left once you commit strongly :P
There is a sea of options and you get drowned in it easily and you always feel some thing better will come till options slowly get drained and you rush for the wedding
Girl might or might not be beautiful . There is some charm (?)which attracts both. Boy might or might not be good looking . He might or might not be financially ahead of the girl . Some times its even ugly boy bful girl and handsome boy and ugly girl pairs . Many other factors like intelligence, sense of humor, wit, smartness and some times no particular factor  plays a major role when both get attracted.
Girl has to be beautiful, well educated ,homely , have long hair, be a good  cook, have proper milky white complexion, preferably employed,  some times preferably unemployed, tall , slender and should take care of parents. Boy should have lucrative salary, own house, a car, preferably onsite or settled in abroad. Tall and should not be bald , well built body and there is always the below comparative analysis. The previous girl/boy was much more better than this one or may be a ray of hope that the next girl/boy would be more better
Age is not a very important factor. Most of the times they are of same age or some times girl can also be bigger than the boy. Most of the times societies’ actual norms of boy elder to girl are met.
The societies’ norm must and should meet. Boy should be elder to girl by a minimum of 2-3yrs but a boy who is 35 will also approach a girl of 22 and a girl of 24 should not marry a boy of 24-25. There should be age gap as they say. Some people are superb by rejecting matches where the boy is just 1-2months or 10- 15 days younger to girl. They say the mental sync is a problem! I don’t know how much extra mental sync is possible by their predefined needed age gap between girl and boy. Well there can be few but very few broad minds
Love can be retained but expectations can be high as days pass by post the wedding. Sometimes it may wither as days go by. A boy takes a girl for granted and a girls interpretation can be dreamy and expectations can be high which are not easily met
Love just starts, so expectations might be less but the excitement to know more about each other is high so it’s  afresh  and great. Love can be retained but A boy takes a girl for granted and a   girls interpretation can be dreamy and expectations can be high which are not easily met
Post wedding disputes are not uncommon. THE REAL Person is shown when both start living with each other
Post wedding disputes are common. THE PERSON is actually SHOWN when both start living with each other
Kids are born and they get busy with monotonous life but love can be retained. It depends on their patience, anger management, new ways to bond and love!
Kids are born and they get busy with monotonous life but love can be retained. It depends on their patience, anger management, new ways to bond and love.

So post wedding may be a year or two after wedding both seem to be same the LOVE and the ARRANGED weddings but what matters here is the cause which caused it the effect being same. A GIRL and BOY liking each other which is simple or both families liking each and every aspect which is a bit complex. Relations and commitment have always puzzled me. There are many great people who said great great things about love and marriage and I agree with most of them. In my honest opinion and I know many will agree with me – Any kind of marriage needs a consistent effort from both sides to make it work , to make it bloom.

Some times people who say they are broad minded cannot undermine or push away silly reasons once they get committed. Some people who are too straight forward and frank are always ready to destroy the relation .Some people say they respect each other’s individuality but tend to harm it as and when they are committed. Only one thing I can say is with growing age you need to accept few things which cannot be changed.

A proposal poem (Arranged Marriage)
The initial shyness vanished when he smiled broad.
I shuddered thinking “what to speak next?? Oh LORD”!
I silently conveyed thanks to someone who interrupted,
for whatever I spoke sounded silly and disrupted!

Minutes passed and I found my-self relaxed.
I was naturally in to conversation, no one coaxed!
I found myself chatting, questioning and then elaborately replying:-)
Aura seemed joyful and without any reason I was smiling!

I didn't know if it was a new bond in making.
I wasn’t even sure if I was real or I was faking!
Only thing I was sure was there was some vibe,
Pleasance occupied and there wasn’t any kind of jibe!!

He hinted a question with his eyes and I said YES.
Instantly I dreamt about me in the wedding dress!
There was no sparkle in sky and there were no stars falling down.
There were only smiles as there was no time to frown!

Its special just “He & Me”, I feel like a queen wearing Tiara and he the king with a CROWN!!

Lastly I want to wish all the blossoming relations an absolute success and I wish with growing years people become more considerate and patient rather than closing their relation be it a love or an arranged marriage easily the way they close a bank account!

Genre: Drama
Recommended Audience: Adult

**SPOILER ALERT** (as it will be spoiling the review if I don't spoil the broth)

My Rating : Can some one rate this bloody GANG. No am not taking the risk :)
so please go on !

Its a real challenge to review the blood thirsty Gangs boiling with vengeance who came back to fight for one last time. Firstly I take a bow to GOW for its sheer brilliance , excellent execution where outcome is fantastic. A review will fall short if you want to applaud the Wasseypur sketched by Anurag and actually written by the group of people mentioned above!  Zeishan Quadri will stay in your memories as "Definite" whose maqsad is always clear. He wants to imitate Salman Khan and is actually more intimidating than Sallu of Tere naam and loves fooling around and at the same time wants to sit on the throne of Wasseypur!Subtle hints given in the story that Indian Public will always be puppets in the hands of "CINEMA" when its shown that Phaijjal(Faisal) khan uraf Nawazuddin Siddiqui wants to be a Amitab bachan and also tries to woo his sweet heart Mohsina (Huma Qureshi) mentioning shahrukh and salman is hilarious and damn real at the same time. Its not exaggerating as it is the way many people behave in our country. She is a voluptuous beauty who dimmed many bollywood damsels in my honest opinion

Tigmanshu Dhulia's (Rama dhir Singh's) revelation that every one wants to be a hero. SABKE dimaag me apni picture chal rahi hai and he pities his son for watching DDLJ saying he is for no good and his dialogue Jab tak Hindustan mein cinema bante rahenge, public ch****ya banti rahegi  and he says he sustains as he doesnt watch movies. All these facts are intertwined with wacky humor and even with lot of blood shed you will not feel that you are subjected to gory scenes due to the humor embedded so beautifully. DARK humor of Gangstas is better than many unlaughable jokes  in the recent comedy releases. As there is a lot to review I first want to appreciate many characters. "PELPENDICULAL" (the way Babuwa , the youngest son of Sardar khan says perpendicular) played by Aditya Kumar is a new memorable character who wants to look dangerous with his killling using a blade expertism and also at a tender age he starts looting and scaring the hell out of people using his brother Faizal's name. He who becomes a big sanjay dutt's fan after Munna bhai names Tangent as Circuit and   at many junctures unconditional love for bollywood is shown !

Its more cute than funny when he mentions about  his side kick that"Iska tangent aul mela pelpendiculal gaya " when learning shooting! Women of Wasseypur need a special mention as they are not weak and to them Vengeance comes before love and many other basic needs. Richa Chadda shows she can do much better when she settles down as a widow who cant rest till her sons plunge in to action whose blood is not boiling enough to wipe away the sultan territory asap. The way her eyes have black shadows and hair shines in Henna color so as to hide the grey hair is so naturally shown.

Music
"Taar bijli se patle hamare piya ori saasu bata tune ye kya kia" stands apart among all songs. The way the song  transforms from being funny to a grieving Nagma who remembers the dead husband and elder son is not overdone and fits the moment. Its amazingly sung by Padmashree Sharda Sinha (Bihari folk fame) and ofcourse music intelligently composed by none other than Sneha Khanwalkar. A standing ovation to this girl in red fiery boots who is all set to make fast and furious music which blends with the movie so well. To me the music of GOW 1 is awesome and it doesnt mean GOW 2 music is substandard. I liked GOW1 music a little more :) How can one forget O womaniya and kehkelunga but definitely all the songs created a new trend. Kaala re saiyyan Kaala re is the diamond of GOW2 which describes the Saiyyan , his dil , his work , his accomplishments all as DARK. The purpose dark and the out come dark . The usage of english words and phrases like "I am a hunter she wants to see my gun" if made you laugh the below lyrics will make you feel tad sad when Mohsina tries to lift the spirits of Faisal in Prison and also a scene where he is frustrated and shows his angst on his father Sardar khan who had a chance to escape but he started it all. Its a bit touchy  and also funny- the way the english words are used
Frustiyaao nahin moora,
Narbhasaao nahin moora,
Anytime moodwa ko,
Anytime moodwa ko,
Upsettaao nahin moora...
Jo bhi wrongwa hai usey,
Set right-wa karo ji,

Also loved mera jootha fake leather dil chi cha ledar. wo hum se pooche whether I like the weather.

I can write a separate review on music alone but I shall stop here and move on to do justice to some other elements of the movie

Glimpses of Story and the Characters

The story starts where exactly it ends with Sardar's body ready to be buried and the best part of the movie is there is no unnecessary wait. Even the dead body doesnt make you feel sad due to the funny intervention of Yashpal Sharma who previously sang in both male and female voices sings 80s sad songs like "Yaad teri bahut sathayega" and the other similar songs "Teri meharbaaniyan" etc who is the hit entertainer of Wasseypur - be it any occasion :) . You instead of shedding tears will just laugh off when ever he appears on the screen. The blood shed starts almost immediately after Daanis (the elder son) is provoked by his mum and he kills few from the gang who lead to his fathers death and Saba (Danish's wife) requests him to stop all khoon kharaaba so that she doesnt join the league of widows but Daanish pays deaf ear and as an immediate effect gets killed by Sultan. There is one more funeral and Outraged Nagma (Richa Chadda) shouts at his Gaanja doped son Faizal saying she will cut all his 10 fingers who she thinks is fit for nothing.

At that moment Phaijal Khan takes an oath that he will take revenge on every one and wont look back and he totally sticks to his word. You can then see the merciless blood shed all over the screen which starts with a head cut and hanged infront of the dead man's house. Faizal creates terror all over the place and he wants to rule now and every one starts imitating him. During Sardar khan times it was Sardar Khan Vs Rama dhir with Sultan oscillating but now every one is power-hungry and wants to be a Sardar Khan ! Raj kumar Yadav (LSD fame) needs a special mention here who befriends Faisal to earn more name, fame and money and wont mind doing any kind of fraud to gain power. The story narration again by Piyush Mishra is defnitely an asset.

Post Danish's death even Perpendicular is chased and killed which makes Faisal more furious and he states to his mom " Jaan hi to hai ya to allah lega ya muhalla". In midst of all this the year wise progress from pagers to cell phones , from dilwale dulhaniya to Munna bhai MBBS, warm love tit bits add spice to the cold blood shed . I can say that this movie is like Ugadi pickle (made on Ugadi / Gudipadwa using neem leaves chutney , sugar and many ingredients) which holds several flavors and tastes . Mohsina and Faisal's courtship scenes are extremely funny and not vulgar .  The way Huma teases Faisal that due to his Ganja and other habits he looks like a old man and he gets angry and threatens a fellow shopkeeper hoping he says a better number makes you smile!

All the subtle fun moments of Faisal and also Definit when he requests / orders all ladies to go inside the home cant be missed!

The funny discussion on how we can enjoy jack fruit and all the confusion created due to multiple phone conversations by the  mad cap clan of Faisal while plotting on how to attack Sultan when he is in market will just start a laugh riot among audience. To me its the funniest scene :)

There are many comedy tit bits . There are fun , tragic , not so tragic and also fun-tragic moments in the movie. Even when it turns pitch black when sultan attacks Faisal's home you wont be disturbed. You will rather crouch and wait to see what will happen to Faisal next. The killing becomes endless , meaning less and the ray of hope to live with out vengeance becomes hopeless.

First time women are killed in Wasseypur and this increases Faisal's revenge 10 fold and he is all set to kill  Ramadhir and any one who comes on the way and the killing and bloody pools just flow non stop . Blood flows profusely and Faisal who entered in to skin and soul of Nawazuddin enjoys the moments absolutely. The way he kills Ramadhir is better than many hollywood movies and Deborah Young of The Hollywood Reporter called the film "an extraordinary ride through Bollywood’s spectacular, over-the-top filmmaking".Referring to the violence and pace of the film she says "Gangs of Wasseypur puts Tarantino in a corner with its cool command of cinematically-inspired and referenced violence, ironic characters and breathless pace" (source : Wiki).Faisal savoring each and every death sight of Ramadhir is one heck of a sight to watch and then what happens next makes you feel real sad this time and I actually felt sad when the movie ended .

Even if its a bloody saaga, the characters which just entered in to me made me crave for more of it ! I dont care if it resembled God father or Pulp fiction or Torantino but to me this is a world class movie which intelligently gets it self out of all these movies even if it resembles here and there and stands alone on the throne.Indian cinema with this movie deserves to be entering in to International hits ! I just wish it bags awards and accolades in many Ceremonies !

I loved the way the movie ends with the same song it starts "Ik bagal me chand hai aur ek bagal me rotiyaan"

I might have missed appreciating so many people and so many characters. If Manoj Bajpayee stole my heart Faisal left my stomach empty craving for more and women like Nagma and Huma  showed how strong they can be, inspiring women at one or the other point. I just want to give a loud applause and standing ovation to the entire cast and crew of GOW I and II ! Though its a long movie you only feel that you are witnessing every bit of Wassey pur in detail. Gangs Of Wasseypur II provides enough cinematic brilliance to discuss for years! I wonder if we can actually write a book based on the movie.

My rating : What the hell A Hy- Five / 5 to this cold blooded revenge drama which is not extremely dramatised , to this fun filled tragic saaga which doesnt have any unlaughable jokes , to those love bits and bollywood intervention which are so realistic ! I am not sure if I did justice to this review. May be I may write 2 more posts when I remember things I missed out  but just wanna say you are one heck of a story  teller Anurag and waiting for many more block busters which can just bust ones A**

The Dark Knight Rises- Review

Ironically I went to watch this movie on the day which can be circled in the history of India as it was the longest black out due to power grid failure for 2-3 days in july end. I went to the movie on the fly on july 30th night. It was all pitch black and it was like as if I waited and waited for batman to enter and finally went to a near by theatre to meet him(basically to stop my self from sweating profusely and stop mouthing swear words) ! It is a long movie which runs for more than 2 and 1/2 hours but I saw that people were eagerly watching at the screen. They were totally engrossed and so was I . There was pin drop silence in the theatre which added to the effect.

Making this last part of the trilogy must really have been challenging to Christopher Nolan as you all know the JOKER of the dark knight created history, so this time every one was curious to see if the bad man is  as intimidating as Joker or not. For me I couldnt compare both the characters . Bane played by  Tom Hardy  is scary and you really cannot compare Joker and Bane. As half of the movie finishes and Bane has already entered you forget the comparison and get lost in the movie.

To me the primary attraction is the Cat woman played by Anne Hathaway as Selina . She looked real hot in her cat woman attire and looked double sexy when she rides the Bat pod to kill Bane. Some in the theatre hooted in this scene.  Christian Bale is the best bat man. He has that worn out sad look which is so natural when he realises he is losing Gotham to Bane.

For people who havent watched the prequel the story till then is 8 years after Batman disappears after taking the blame oHarvey Dents murder, people in Gotham live peacefully till Bane enters and aims at destroying the cit y. I havent seen Batman Begins so I got many doubts and got them resolved only after the movie ended.

Praise worthy scenes which make you let out a "aah" / "ooh" are when Bane hits a button and whole foot ball ground is blasted, when Selina drives the bat pod , the jail scene where Bruce finally succeeds to escape and you cannot resist appreciating Batman when his batman hover craft first appears in the dark alley! Other characters worth mentioning are  Inception cast members here - Joseph Gordon-Levitt who plays Robin the police officer who believes in Bruce no matter what, Marion Cotillard  as Miranda who is one of the board members of Wayne enterprises and ofcourse I wont reveal a spoiler here so its good to watch and know it . I personally love Gary Old man as he is the Sirius Black of Harry potter  My personal favourite part of the movie is the prison episode where the exteriors of the prison were shot in Jodhpur (some fort)   chosen because the "forbidding landscape added to the desolation" as per wiki

Some minuses in the movie to me are

1.) The repeated attacks by explosives become boring at some point and the missiles following bat man where he runs away from them even in his well built craft!

2.) The wait is long when you want to see Bat man in action . It seemed like a lot is showed in that span but you may not mind it due to promising actors.

Other than that to me every thing is perfect including the back ground score and batman's entry. Being Anne hathway's fan I loved the below picture  and I particularly loved the last scene where Bruce's Butler Alfred finds Batman which we can easily guess but it led to claps and happiness among audience :)

I dont know other technical glitches or loop holes and dont want to dig in to them as I loved the movie and loved it more as it saved me from the power cut wrath. Well I came out of the theatre and it got more dark but the DARK KNIGHT did not come in real :-| I solaced my self thinking he would have got busy fighting Bane (read grid) some where in a underground sewage !

My Rating : 4/5

Death

Death - when it knocks the door.. Would you even get a chance to understand what's in-store? Death - when it knocks the door... Will you...
