A real life episode

Recently Mom bhayya and I went to meet some old neighbours house who used to stay in 5th floor of our old apartment and we in 2ndfloor..They became friends during morning walks. A old lady..Very impressive sweet person ,Her sister whom she calls guddo and her husband …MR. Patel, Guddo and the elder lady are very lovable. They always say some good things which come out of experience.. and give good advice as well…Its never boring listening to their unending conversation..though its repetitive at times (they being aged ). They always narrate their experiences when they were youngsters ..and how MR.Patel struggled to gain name fame in his business. He wanted to be a successful business man. His head is still full of ideas at the age of 75 + …He started his career in a consultancy. He wanted to establish his own factory which sells spare parts of transformers..and electricals.. (Don’t know why he got this idea). My brother who is doing his MBA listens to him so keenly that he doesn’t pay attention to any thing else ,so was he sitting close by him and we opposite to him listening to his past. So uncle started at some industry as a sales advisor or some thing. He was initially doing some Sales and finance related work.. I don’t exactly remember what the cader is!

So one fine day neatly tucked in white collared dress he went to give his interview in a famous firm in Gujarat.

Being in Gujarat from 10-15years he was habituated to The food, climate , people and everything there. After having some dhokla he went at sharp 9 to the office for interview and was waiting for his number.

HE was called inside

Interviewer :” SO Your marks sheets seem impressive . Where do you stay:

Patel : “ I stay here in Ahmedabad from 10years. My native place is near lucknow “

I : Oh great! You have done school and grad education from Gujrat totally (With a flashing bright smile)

P: “Ya I belong here. My roots are here..even though am born in lucknow”

I: Ya your name says So!!!Great

P: “Pardon :-/!?”

I : Nothing…You can join From tomorrow if its fine to you MR.Patel ….What are your demands for salary

P : “ Thanks a lot sir! I never thought ..this would be that easy!!!”

I: “ You have wonderful grades! And good past experience..Why wouldn’t it be easy?”

After some negotiations on salary he departed to fill some induction forms and to complete some formalities

After some 15min . Interviewer or boss called him hurriedly inside….(after checking all his documents!)

I : “Err..whats your first name?!”

P: Sir its Hasan!

I: “Oh You are a muslim (WITH oh shit expression on his face”)

P: hmm Yeah! Why what happened!

I : no nothing! But you have Patel as surname and….In your signature You written as Hasan S. Patel Does S means Shaikh!? Your full name is hasan shaikh patel!???!?

P : “ yeah! Why is there some problem”

I : No No problem at all.. You can join from tomorrow as we decided. I was thinking You are a gujarathi (he told with a tinge of disappointment in his voice )!!!

Hasan : “well No..I was brought up here. I reside here. That is what I meant.. But ya I am a muslim “

So Mr. Patel or Hasan Patel joined office the very next day. But sooner…he became a very close friend of Jignesh patel his boss......Weekends they used to go to each others homes and enjoy Lucknow and Gujarat cuisines.

Hasan was more like a brother to Jignesh.. suggesting him and solving even his personal problems…Now and then jignesh used to tell him he feels thankful to god ! for creating confusion on the day of interview….:)

Later after few years hasan left the company and materialized the dream he had from Long!! His OWN FIRM! Which makes the spare parts of transformers.

IT was all well. Jignesh was still close to hasan….and his new factory was flourishing.

Then it happened in 1992 ..The memories of which makes him shiver till date. Kuch dange fasaad me his factory was destroyed. (after the Babri Mosque demolition on 6 December 1992..during Ayodhya babri conflict) His factory was totally burnt over night..He was not able to save even a single equipment by the time he reached the place…He felt ruined..lost and shattered.

He did not lose courage…Though he left the thought of starting a firm again(As his financial condition was weak)…he was able to get a decent job and earn again..Jignesh used to tell always kaash those bloody riots also got confused like me that U r a patel and not shaikh !!He financially supported Hasan and…hasan was succesful in his career. But as an after math of attacks and after becoming financially so down trodden he never was able to implement the idea of businesses again . His kids also warned him not to enter in to any adventurous ideas now that the situation is sensitive!! So it was one of the chapters of his life..A very important chapter…where he was about to rise in his career! One more similar company rised in that time the name of which is EMCO Transformers! Our Jignesh and Hasan realised “naam aur Jaat me kya rakha hai “and became close friends But I am not sure when the whole country would realise it …We have many such examples of people getting close keeping aside the stupid reasons like region , religion , state , caste….and so on…There are many factors in india based on which we can differentiate people! I read some where GOD IS VERY Big!! So he is distributed among many religions and castes ...Its not taught in any religion to fight against the other!!

Praying and hoping peace will replace the desire to cut off the other in to pieces!!:(
